Trinity College Hartford CT.. merit aid?

<p>Is this one of those northeastern baby elite types like, Bowdoin, Colby, Bates, etc. that gives away very little in merit aid. In that Trinity is an “urban” campus is there that great a draw? I mean Hartford sure ain’t Boston. I’m thinking they might be more generous than some. Don’t get me wrong a GREAT school with a terrific Rep, other than location. Anybody…</p>

<p>I don’t think Trinity gives merit aid - just need based financial aid. As for whether they are more generous than others, given the current budget problems at Trinity, I wouldn’t be that confident about that.</p>

<p>I think it came in this year. It is a large scholarship . Full-tuition I think. It’s either Trinity or Conn College.</p>

Trinity College (in CT): D recieved a Presidential Scholarship award – full tuition for all 4 years. Works out to about $130K!

<p>Very interesting! I was wrong. From the 4/4/06 issue of the Trinity student newspaper:</p>

For the first time ever, Trinity will begin offering merit scholarships to incoming first-year students. Approximately 100 students will be offered scholarships and Trinity is expecting to enroll about 20 of them. A Presidential Scholar will be offered full tuition for four years of study and a Summit Scholar will be offered half tuition for four years of study … Right now, the Presidential Scholarships are being targeted at the top five percent of students that are offered admission. This amounts to approximately two percent of the entire applicant pool. The students offered scholarships will be selected through a holistic approach that mirrors the standard admissions policy. Some things that will be considered are test scores, grades, difficulty of classes, and personal qualities such as leadership, ability to overcome disadvantage, and concern for others. Presidential Scholarships will be offered without regard to family resources, as the intention is to attract the best possible students …
