Trinity Vs Dalton

I’ve been considering these two schools and want an idea of the pros and cons involved. What’s the culture like? Any tips? etc

My first question would be: did you get in? These are both very hard schools to get into. If you didn’t receive results yet, I would ask this question once you do if you get into both.

my brother and i went to trinity for elementary, and he and my sister in law just decided to send my nephew to dalton over trinity next year for kindergarten.

both are wonderful, both are hard, both do excellent jobs at prepping kids to go on to great schools and all that. if you get in, there aren’t really any pros or cons that one has and the other doesn’t. they have different educational philosophies, Dalton has their own method, which my brother and SIL ultimately decided would be best for my nephew as he progresses. Trinity has a more traditional curriculum. each is completely crap at sports, each has a wonderful selection of clubs, and each is incredibly well-resourced to support your kid, should they get in. People may say that trinity is more stuffy - it wasn’t when i was there - but they’re both much the same culturally. Dalton may be a bit more artsy, less STEM, but that’s changing.

What my brother did say, though, was that through the process, Dalton was much more available and truly made an effort to get to know my nephew. When they got results, Dalton wrote one of the most touching acceptance notes i’ve ever read in my entire life, whereas trinity’s was much more impersonal, which isn’t really indicative of much. But, since the schools are so difficult to choose between, they just decided that the degree of time and care dalton gave to them just edged out trinity.

Good luck w/ applying!
