Trip to Chicago tomorrow, need restaurant

Going to see son in Chicago tomorrow. Staying at Hyatt Regency Chicago, going to Les Mis at the Cadillac theater.
Any suggestions for dinner, not too expensive? Not too fancy?
Thanks in advance.

[Restaurants Near Cadillac Palace Theatre - Theatre In Chicago](<a href=“Restaurants Near Cadillac Palace Theatre - Theatre In Chicago”>Restaurants Near Cadillac Palace Theatre - Theatre In Chicago)

If you want to stay very casual, I’d recommend Pizanos on 61 East Madison. They do a good job with Chicago style pan pizza. If you want some of the nicer placers in the link cited above, you’ll need a reservation as places get crowed before the theater.

I’d definitely recommend Lou Malnati’s for excellent Chicago deep dish style pizza.
I’d also recommend The Melting Pot… a little on the expensive side, but amazing fondue!

I second Pizano’s…it is delicious. Another restaurant (but on Michigan, so not as close to theater) is Grand Lux Cafe. It is owned by Cheesecake Factory, but even better. And make sure you get some popcorn from Garrett’s. It’s the best.

I will not leave Chicago without pizza from Giordano’s or popcorn from Garretts (love the Chicago Mix).

Oh, and if you’re looking for a great sports bar, Jake Melnicks’s on Superior is really good and they have great food … best French toast I’ve ever had.

Chicago = (DDP) Deep Dish Pizza.

Try South Water market, a couple of blocks from your hotel, or Atwood Cafe, at State and Washington, kitty-corner from Macy’s. Both are on your way to the theater. And, good luck getting around! Where it’s been shoveled, it’s fine, where it hasn’t, it’s impassable.

I like Giordano’s for Chicago style stuffed pizza. Try the stuffed spinach. For slightly more upscale but reasonably priced Italian, I’d go for the Rosebud Theater District or Trattoria No. 10, both conveniently on your route to the theater. Reservations recommended.

Jake Melnick’s, for sure!

I have no idea where it is, but my niece who lives in Chicago was recently raving about a restaurant called–I can’t quite believe it–The Girl and the Goat. (Sounds like a high-end Italian or eastern European erotic film, but hey. )

That’s Stephanie Izard’s place, the winner of “Top Chef” a few seasons ago. However, it is booked solid on weekends for months out.

Keymom was there last week, same night as my H. H came back with a funny story. He ate at a restaurant called Vie, out in the suburbs (Western Springs). They were really pushing the truffles. It was the day after the big storm and they had mega amounts of truffles for a $500/plate dinner, but very few people showed up. H was coerced into ordering the dinner for half price. Every single course had truffles incorporated. H said it was just too many truffles for him!
