Trip to Nova Scotia

Summer is far off, but I enjoy the mental escape of envisioning a vacation.

I am considering a week in an oceanside cottage in Nova Scotia. I’ll find something appropriate with a panoramic view of ocean and pounding surf. We’ll sit on the deck and go down to the shore (if the weather is good) or contemplate nature through picture windows from the cozy living room (if the weather is bad).

The ferry will be running again from Portland, ME, so we would arrive in Yarmouth.

If I am looking for charm, solitude and pleasant scenery, should I seek out my cottage on the Digby side (Bay of Fundy side) or the Liverpool side (on Atlantic ocean)?

Digby of course has its scallops to recommend it, which I would enjoy.

I’d recommend Peggy’s Cove, Lunenberg, Mahone Bay area. Beautiful scenery, interesting villages, amenities if you want them but it’s also possible to find locations where you can experience solitude with the beauty.

The Cabot Trail is also filled with truly spectacular scenery.

Has anyone else traveled in this area and have suggestions of either areas to visit or areas to avoid?
