Trojan Transfer Plan (TTP) including Study Abroad Info

Hey idk if this is allowed but I do know that there is a discord for students applying for USC transfer this year including TTP/VPP/MPP students. Check it out here ■■■■■■■■■■/JKKvJuPgRs

Feel free to delete if it isn’t btw

No. Trojan Transfer Program isn’t a real thing. This has been debunked time and time again. They decided this year to have everyone’s rejection letter this year and thus forward to include everyone not just people in the Trojan family.

Sorry. My bad

So everyone’s rejection letter has a statement acknowledging ties to the USC community with a “brief form” to show interest in a session with an advisor over the summer? Seems like a big time commitment for 70k+ rejections.

It should. This is just to make sure every student has the opportunity to go to USC if they wanted to not just the “legacies” anymore. So they’re not gonna get 70k submissions as most students will want to experience the 4-years.

Every school has a transfer process. I’ve never seen a rejection letter dedicate an entire paragraph (6 detailed sentences) to the possibility of transfer and include an actual form to complete where you select a desired transfer major (all majors in the dropdown). Seems a bit much to send to all rejections. With that said I haven’t seen a person rejected say they didn’t have that paragraph, so who knows.

TTP was/is a real thing where those offered TTP were given more guidance and handholding in the transfer process. It was never just legacies…and people’s applications are flagged. Of course anyone can attempt to transfer (generic transfer message) but a select group is offered an upgraded route which includes a responsive AO and specific guidance.

While some have this generic message at the bottom “If you are interested in learning more about transferring…” It is different than what others have:

STUDENT xxxx, while we are not able to offer you admission this year, our admission committee saw a lot of potential in your application. If you decide that you still wish to explore a path to USC, consider applying for admission as a transfer student. Students may apply to transfer to USC after one year of strong academic work elsewhere. To learn how to plan your course schedule to be a competitive transfer applicant, please attend a Trojan Transfer Information Session in June. Reservations will be made available in your USC applicant portal in early May. Our transfer process is highly competitive, and while there are no guarantees of admission, I hope you will explore this option.

They may not formally call it TTP, but it is an “almost guaranteed” transfer path (if requirements met) versus coming in without that flagged application.

D24 has the following in her decision letter - does this mean anything?
“If you decide that you still wish to explore a path to USC, consider applying for admission as a transfer student. Students
may apply to transfer to USC after at least one year of strong academic work elsewhere. If you are interested, simply
complete this brief form and I will e-mail you more information about (1) our expectations of transfer applicants, and (2)
details about Trojan Transfer Information Sessions later this summer that will help you plan your course of study. Although
our transfer process is highly competitive and there are no guarantees of admission, you could transfer to USC as soon as
your sophomore year.”

I agree. I think that CADREAMIN is under the wrong impression. USC changed the TTP a few years ago. It used to be a few years ago (maybe even. more than a few) legacies (or other tagged students) would get to meet 1-on-1 with admissions to discuss a potential plan to help with transferring. This is no longer occurring, and anyone can now attend the summer session about transfering. I have put the exact wording from Kirk Brennan himself in a letter he sent out

I find your message very condescending to @ss0826. I think you should know that even though you are an expert here----TTP was a real thing a few years ago (correct). But, USC has slowly transitioned away from “more guidance and handholding in the transfer process.” I believe they transitioned away a couple of years ago. They now make it clear that ANYONE can attend the Trojan Transfer Info session in the summer. Every denied student gets that blurb on their denial letter.

They did not transition the process a couple years ago, just the name, it was certainly alive and well last admission cycle - I know several students that had meetings (and was at USC for one last July) that was not open to all transfers. It was a personal planning meeting. Yes, they have the Trojan Transfer presentation in summer now (they always had this in the fall) but only some students are getting individual meetings. They posted on here today.

I do agree they are attempting to make the idea of transfer as a possibility more broadly by adding a generic paragraph on the bottom of rejections. But other students are still getting a different paragraph encouraging transfer, not just letting them know it’s an option.

If you read each sentence of that statement carefully, you will see they actually aren’t saying they changed inviting certain applicants. They just opened up the idea of transfer by making the summer info sessions open to everyone, which btw, they already had those in the fall. It’s PR, not change.

For a new poster to come in and say TTP didn’t really exist (when it did for more than a decade if not decades) and say that it was only a media made up idea to placate legacies - the mis-information and insult to legacies was not helping people dealing with rejection at that very moment.

These posts have been moved to this TTP thread for those interested in learning more, and any posts re this topic should post here and let the decisions posts/questions remain on that thread.

Great marketing by USC. They love their transfers! They are a business like all other colleges!

I disagree with much of what you said, but it doesn’t matter. I’m not sure if you attended the USC counselor’s conference, but this was discussed, too. I am not reading between the lines of what was sent out. USC is incredibly easy to transfer into if a student wants to do that and has solid coursework/grades in the one or two years before they apply for a transfer. As you know, some schools are transfer-friendly, and USC is one!

“Hey there,I wanted to reach out and ask if you happen to know anyone who received an offer to join the Trojan Transfer Program at USC this year ? As a legacy, I received a rejection, but the only notable difference in the paragraph about transferring was that it started with “NAME, this decision was especially difficult for us given your ties to the USC community”. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!”

Is this ttp "_______ this decision was especially difficult for us given your ties to the USC community. If you decide that you still wish to explore a path to USC, consider applying for admission as a transfer student. Students may apply to transfer to USC after at least one year of strong academic work elsewhere. If you are interested, simply complete this [brief form]and I will e-mail you more information about (1) our expectations of transfer applicants, and (2) details about Trojan Transfer Information Sessions later this summer that will help you plan your course of study. received the same with the first sentence distinction regarding ties to the USC community.

Do you have ties to the USC community?

I’m the Dad, who went to USC for 2 years, but transferred to another college to graduate. But I’ve stayed close to the school and my son and I visit every year for a football game. So in Common App there was an option to select attended (but didn’t graduate) which presumably established the “ties”.

Hello NewPoster123.

I can confirm that TTP was alive and well up to Spring 2024. My daughter completed her studies through the program and was admitted in Fall 2023. She also has a friend currently in TTP about to complete her studies in the next month through the program. Whether is is called TTP or not, the program was not discontinued.
