Trouble Finding Safety Schools?

Hello!
3.86 Weighted GPA on the 5 scale (My school doesn’t provide an unweighted gpa)
1730 SAT with Writing, 1130 without (taken once) and retaking in October
Mostly Honors schedule, took AP English Lang and got a 4, taking AP English Lit senior year. Took two english classes my junior year and doing so again my senior year (my school offers a bunch of different english classes and I just really like english)

I’ve found a decent amount of Target and Reach Schools, but I’ve been trying to find safety schools that still have strong English/TechTheatre programs without seeming too safe with no luck. Financial aid is also a bit of a concern, as I would like to find a school where I could possibly get a merit scholarship and I’m also looking for schools that are LGBT Friendly.

Any help would be massively appreciated! :)

muhlenberg college should be on your list(top of your list)

Theatre Arts and Dance Degree Requirements | Hendrix College; (maybe as a safety) but still an amazing school

What is your home state?

Home State of New Jersey, I’ve looked at a lot of the state schools already with the only one so far that I’ve liked being Rutger’s, which is becoming a lot more competitive so I hesitate to call it a safety…

They accepted 60% of their applicants last year. http://oirap.rutgers.edu/instchar/CDS/2013/NewBrunswickRegion13.pdf</a> And your SATs are solidly in the middle 50% so I think you’re right, it’s more of a match. For merit scholarships go to the Financial Aid forum and look at the pinned threads there for assured merit aid. There is also a thread with low cost colleges.

Knox is a really good possibility, although I don’t really know what your average comes out to in the more standard non-weighted 4.0 scale. They area also an SAT or ACT optional college. It fits all your requirements very well.
