Trouble submitting Honors app

Has anyone else had problems submitting an Honors College application? When my ds tried to submit his, he got this error message:

select ‘Y’ from dual where :P1SWBHNRSCBHPIND is not null and :P1CBHPESSAYANSWER is null: ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested
Error ERR-1006 Error in validation routine.

We’ve tried three different browsers on two different computers (one PC, one Mac), but none of them will let his application go through. And of course the university is on Thanksgiving break, so we can’t reach anyone there to ask for help.

The Honors app has to be submitted before he can submit the Fellows app, and the deadline for Fellows is Dec. 4, so he doesn’t have a whole lot of time to deal with technical problems.

Ok…

I’m assuming that your son has been admitted to the school already? Is that correct?

Don’t worry about the UFE deadline. UFE is super understanding about stuff like this. Send an email right now to Mrs. Bridgers telling her about the problem wlbridgers@ua.edu to document the problem. Mrs. Wellon L Bridgers, Coordinator, University Fellows Experience

Can you print out a copy of the error message that you’re getting - just to have a record of it?

Have you submitted your problem to the help desk?

We kept trying, making minor changes to different parts of the app, and finally got it to go through. We still don’t know what was triggering the error message, but hey, it worked eventually.

We’ll probably call on Monday to make sure everything went through correctly, including the uploaded resume.

That was odd! LOL But, it finally worked out.

Yes, definitely call Honors College on Monday to find out if it truly got submitted.

Call Jami Gates at 205-348-5599 - She’s in charge of Honors recruiting, so she can find out if the app got properly submitted.

Will you have to wait until Honors accepts your son to officially submit the UFE online?
