Wondering if anyone else had a similar issue, but when copying and pasting my responses from Microsoft Word into Gateway, the apostrophes disappear and a notice pops up that “Some characters couldn’t be saved.” I emailed Gateway support about this but didn’t receive any help.
I don’t know about Gateway specifically, but some platforms won’t accept non-standard characters. MS Word used curved apostrophes and, my guess, Gateway requires straight apostrophes.
Converting the MS Word text to ASCII before you copy and paste should solve your problem.
