Troubles with first semester grades.. am I at risk of losing my college acceptance?

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>So because of a few unexpected illnesses and having a tougher course-load than any year before my grades have slipped first semester… Not going to deny that I have myself to blame for some of it so there is no need to remind me that I should’ve worked harder. Now what I’d like to ask is your opinion on in how much trouble I might be for my slip in grades?</p>

<p>I was accepted and plan to attend Pacific Lutheran University. The stats of last year’s freshman class can be found here:

<p>Now here’s the background of me when I applied to PLU.
For most of my life I had lived abroad so my 9th grade grades were from a foreign country which during the conversion process ended in an abysmal 2.9 for that year.
Starting 10th grade I started attending school in Washington State.
Here are my statistics from that point on:</p>

<p>10th grade:
3.5 both semesters
One honors class</p>

<p>11th grade:
Around a 3.3 first semester while a higher gpa second semester which ended up with me having an average of 3.5 that school year.
Took AP English Language and AP Psychology</p>

<p>After 11th grade I had a total gpa of 3.24 over my three years of high school. ACT score of 32</p>

<p>Now here’s how my problem semester will most likely look:
AP English Literature - A-
AP Physics - C
AP Biology - B-
Honors Chemistry - C+/B-
AP Calculus AB - B+
AP US Government - A</p>

<p>These are not written in stone but I believe that my gpa for the semester should be between 2.94 and 3.05</p>

<p>I will definitely make sure to get higher grades second semester but right now could anyone tell me on how worried should I be about the possibility of them withdrawing their offer?</p>

<p>Those grades are fine, you don’t really have to worry unless you fail a couple classes or get Cs in all of them…</p>

<p>Really? Do you perhaps know what is the line when colleges feel like a student has slacked off too much? Not that I intend to do just enough to be above that line, I want to get good grades if anything then at least so I can be proud of myself, I’m just curious.</p>

<p>Those grades are not terribly out of line with your previous grades and you are taking a number of APs so you should be fine.</p>

<p>You have to really screw up - either start getting D’s, flunking or getting caught cheating or some other moral infraction - to have a school pull its offer of admission. Do not become complacent however. Read a few of the threads about kids really struggling freshman year in college and you will be wise to keep your work habits current and your head in the game.</p>

<p>PS AP Physics is notoriously hard for most kids. And unless you’re planning on majoring in Physics I think a C being your worst grade isn’t horrible.</p>
