I am having a very difficult time finding dress trousers for work and hopefully someone here with my shape can point me in the right direction.
It seems the style now, no matter what the leg shape, is for the back to hug the behind somewhat. I can get by with jeans like this, but not dress trousers.
I have a longer torso, shorter legs. With that body shape we tend to have a lower longer bottom. Not a nice little perky one. I need trousers that drap over the back very tailored…not hugging anywhere. It just looks awful, you can see underwear lines, etc. and I refuse to wear thongs. I don’t want this part of my body outlined, especially the sides.
I also have a longer torso and short legs and arms. Petite-sized clothes are usually the right length but too short in the stride. I don’t know where you live, but you might look at Dress Barn if you have them near you. I tried on a pair of their trouser-cut pants in the short length and they were perfect. I haven’t bought them yet because I really wanted just basic black and I don’t think they come in solids. I will try to look for the link later. I am having computer issues right now.
I don’t think this can be accomplished without alterations. You’ll need to find a pair that fits the way you want in the seat and thigh, and tailor the length and the waist.
I don’t know what price point you are looking at, but maybe start with discount stores, Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Nordstrom Rack.
When you say the word tailored, Lands End comes to mind. I am attaching a link but there are a number of choices. This one says “figure balancing straight leg” which sounds like what you are asking for. I am a huge Maxxinista, but I don’t think TJ is the place to look for something so specific. It can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. You might also check Eddie Bauer. Good luck.
“Why can’t we have normally tailored/cut clothing. WHY?!?”
Get to know a good tailor. Buy the pants that fit the widest part of your body best and tailor the rest. This is what Stacey and Clinton would have said.
I think Talbot’s is a great idea. I tend to forget about Talbot’s but they are definitely tailored. Buying lined pants also helps with panty lines, but I agree that thongs do not tend to be a good solution. I have seen too many of them them poking out the top when people bend over, plus sometimes you STILL see the lines. Sigh.

Hmmmm… I have that body shape and have found that tighter pants - especially those with spandex look the best on me. And since I am almost 60 my bum has fallen. The tighter pant gives me a much better shape. I wear thongs or tight fitting boyfriend panties. Never a panty line.
Theory trousers are most flattering on me too, although that’s not my body type. I’d recommend you guve them a try; they are flattering to a wide range of body types and are thick enough that panty lines are not an issue.
I’m another one with a long torso and short legs. I so wish manufacturers would make short length trousers and jeans. The rise is often too short in petites, but at least the leg shape, if not straight leg, hits me in the right spot. Nothing like getting boot cut where the knee hits me mid-calf. Tailoring is fine, but every so often I’d like to be able to just pick something off the rack.
Boy shorts don’t work well if one has thighs - they tend to bunch up at the sides. My go-to underwear are the vanishing leg styles from Soma. They don’t ride up, have several cuts, and hold up well.
