<p>haha. i think it might have to do with people with more money have the ability to fix themselves up and look more attractive, and may be more succesful. also, less attactive people may have less self esteem. maybe it’s just coincidence…i don’t know.</p>
<p>all i have to say for the test scores part is that you would think it would be the opposite…or at least balance out, since most people that get high test score are (no offense to anyone on CC) not the most attractive people. you know, they’re just a little nerdier than the rest.</p>

<p>i’d say some degree of attractiveness is going to help you be successful. but it varies–a blonde bombshell might have trouble getting credibility, and a good-looking man might be viewed in some professions as a brainless hunk. attractiveness definitely aint a prerequisite or a sufficient condition for success.</p>

<p>Studies have shown that humans are more trusting of people with symmetrical faces. Symmetrical faces also subconsciously affect whether or not one finds someone attractive. Attractive people are given far more breaks than unattractive ones are. That’s not to say that unattractive people can’t be succesful, but in some cases it is harder for them.</p>

<p>I think this thread shows the ignorance of young people. When you live in the real world you will find out that actractiveness and success go hand in hand. It is not rich people fix themselves with money. It is more attractive people have a starting advantage.</p>

<p>I think attractiveness definitely is a factor in success. First of all, as people have said, people are more likely to like and trust good-looking people and perceive them as more competent. Even the blond bombshell, if she does not dress or act like a ho, will be seen as more competent and yes, even smarter, than a less attractive woman. All this positive feedback gives attractive people confidence, which in turn enables them to ACT competent, thereby creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.</p>
