Cornell’s school of Hotel Management typically likes to see about 4 years of employment on applicants’ resumes? Can any acceptees confirm?

Also, does Cornell have any other undergrad options for business/economics related majors besides hotel management?

I’m not a Hotelie, but in general, there aren’t hard and fast admissions “rules.” The University is looking for engaged, diverse (in all ways) individuals who are a good fit for the program to which they apply.

There are a couple other options for business & economics, depending on what your focus is. In no particular order: 1) Applied Economics and Management in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, 2) Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences, 3) Policy Analysis and Management in the College of Human Ecology, 4) Industrial and Labor Relations in the ILR School (about 1/3 of ILR students go on to business school)

5) An engineering degree.

To answer the OP question.

The more the experience, the better. A lot of people get in with just one year of work, and thats fine. It’s really what you make of the job.

They just want to see that you understand the industry and that is demonstrated through your work experience. However, I have seen a fair amount of people get in with no experience. I got in from one year of work.
