<p>At a recent college night, the admissions counselor said that score reports received prior to a student’s application (e.g., during junior year) will just be tossed; the college will not begin a file for the student at that point. Then, come senior year, the student mistakenly believes s/he has sent the required scores but will receive word that his or her application is incomplete. Has anyone else heard this to be true?</p>
<p>Not true for most colleges. If you send SAT or ACT score in junior year before an app, they will begin a file on you to which your app will later go. Most follow the retention guidelines of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (AACRAO), which suggest keeping admission records for two years from last activity in a file if you do not attend and for at least five years after graduation (or last date of attendance) if you do end up attending.</p>
