Trying to correct past educational mistakes

Hello all,

This is my first post to CC. I am a 22 year old from Indianapolis. To make things brief, I fooled around in high school and BARELY graduated with a 1.8 gpa. I have been in and out of Ivy Tech CC for the past 4 years and have completely screwed that up. I’ve attempted 59 credits and have managed to gain 12 credits with my gpa lying at a 1.3 I believe. The transcripts that I have are marred with W’s, WF’s, and F’s. However the few classes that I have passed have a grade no lower than “B”. I’m not unintelligent by any means nor do I have an extenuating circumstance or anything of that nature to place the blame on. My laziness and lack of work ethic are the cause of these poor grades. I have the desire and will to go back and retake the failed courses so that they can be removed from my gpa, but there’s a slight problem. Courses can only be repeated twice and then I would need the sign off from the vice-chancellor. I have spoken with the vice-chancellor on two occasions and she refused to sign off on any of the classes. I have a sincere desire to go back to school and right my wrongs, but this is quite a hinderance. I thought of transferring, but there are no other community colleges in the Indianapolis area and I’m quite sure I wouldn’t be accepted into any others. If anyone has been through a similar situation or has any advice I would greatly appreciate it!
