Trying To Decide

I am in 11th grade going into 12th next year and I’ve really been thinking about what I want to go to school for. But I honestly have no idea what I want to do. I know thst I want a job that pays good but I would like to actually like going to work. I just dont know what would be good for me. Also I was pulled out of school and homeschooled for 10th grade because I wasnt in a good mental state. While that happened I fell really behind in classes and had to carry on through summer to pass. Now I’m back in school. But does being homeschooled for a bit have an effect on me going to college? Anything you guys can tell me will help. Thanks.

You are far too young to expect to know what you want to do for your life. Many homeschooled students actually do better than their traditionally schooled peers so I would not worry about that at all. Your interests will become more apparent when you are in college.

Don’t discount trade schools either. That’s not a jab at your education at all (I was home schooled K-12). But at least spend a little time using Google to investigate what those routes may offer, if you aren’t entirely sure yet what you want to do.

  1. Go to your guidance counselor and talk to them. They may have tests/tools that help you figure out what career (and therefore major) is best for you)

2 Read this article: What problem do you want to solve?

  1. Take an online quiz…there are many

  2. Talk to the teacher in your favorite class and see what they think

  3. Pre-med/sociology/public health/psychology are majors where you want to help people directly.
Business/engineering/comp sci are majors where you want to solve technical/organizational problems.
Which is more appealing to you?

  4. What were your favorite classes in HS?
