Hey everyone…

I am about to go into my senior year of undergrad. I am majoring in Advertising w/ a minor in Business Administration.

I am hoping to try and go to graduate school, but I am trying to mold a good path / plan in order for that to happen. I currently have a 3.1 overall GPA, but I made a 3.5 last semester with all major/minor courses so I think things are going to go well and my GPA will probably be at least a 3.2 overall when I graduate (My major GPA is headed to be higher, around a 3.3 or 3.4)
. I had one very bad semester when I was pledging my sorority.

I am hoping to enter an advertising masters program at Southern Methodist (TX) or UT Austin. I have also considered waiting a couple of years and entering a MBA program (Southern Methodist, USC, UCLA).

This is where I have a few questions.

I want my resume to be the best that it can be come application time.

How does a sorority look on your resume? Is it best that you leave it off? I know the stereotypes that many people have about sorority women. I have very much considered leaving the sorority in order to focus on more academic endeavors (It is no lie that when I was extremely active within the organization my GPA suffered severely - my first semester left me with a 2.5, when I made a 3.5 the previous semester).

I have come to the decision for next semester that I was going to either participate in the sorority or get a part time job. Which is going to look better on the resume at the end of the day? I cannot do the time commitments of both the sorority and the job, but which is going to have a better return / look on an application? I have very little work experience otherwise. I have gotten my first job this summer.

I was also hoping to do an internship in my field in the Spring as I can get dual credit for it if it is approved by University professors. I will be searching for that soon.

Is there anything else that I could do within my senior year to make my application look that much more competitive? Even if I decide to back out of graduate school, I am still interested in strengthening my resume throughout this year in order to become more competitive.

Thank you so much.
