trying to get a perfect score as a hispanic

i have a little over a 3.5 GPA. im a sophomore and am taking the SAT next year. does SAT prep actually help? what should i study and when? thanks!

“as a hispanic”???

WTH? I fail to see how being hispanic has anything to do with your abilities. Perfect scores are equally difficult to get across races. I don’t know why you would think your ethnicity would have anything to do with it but anyway…

Yes, prepping does help, especially in math and writing. There is only so much you can do to improve reading. The kids that I know who have gotten 800s on reading did not prep for that section at all. They’ve just been reading literature for years and have encountered most, if not all, of the so called “obscure” SAT vocabulary in their pleasure reading, as opposed to what they were assigned in high school.

The first think to do is take a realistically timed actual college board published SAT and score it. You have to start somewhere. Once you know what your baseline is, you can start to tailor your approach. If you are planning on using the current version for college admissions (which is the only one that actually has material available to use for prep) then you need to do serious work this summer so that you can get your optimal score next year, which is the last year of the current version.

If you find the SAT frustrating, try the ACT.

thanks so much for the info! and no i didnt intend for that information in that way, it was just background info  i havnt taken the SAT yet since im still a sophomore so still not sure what to expect. thanks tho! @neatoburrito‌
