Trying to get into UC. My chances?

I am moving to the US and will be trying to get into a UC, preferably UCSD. My problem is this: My university average is quite low and it is going to be my third year.

As such, I wonder what I can do. Can I go to a community college and then transfer to UCSD? Or what other options do I have?

CC-> UC is the best option out there and probably the only option.

It’d be better to call them directly and see if any of your coursework would transfer over. I doubt it, though. Going to a CC first and UC is the most common way to do it but you can also go from a CSU or OOS. You have less of a chance, but it isn’t as uncommon as you might think.

So when I go to the Community College, will I get to keep my GPA, or will I have to start from a clean slate?
I actually much rather for the latter to happen. My marks aren’t that good.

As far as I’m aware you do get a clean slate. As for whether you have to show your previous work to places you’ll eventually transfer to, I think you’ll have to send in your foreign transcripts to them as well. They’ll look at both and judge accordingly.

Pretty sure they look at people who went to CSU’s first and compare their performances to the CC level.

You will have to list all coursework on your UC application and if the class is UC transferable, it will be calculated into your UC GPA.
