I’m trying to transfer from union college during my sophomore year to either:
University of Rochester
College of William and Mary
University of Michigan
Brandeis university
University of North Carolina chapel hill
My high school stats: not so great around a 3.1/4 throughout high school at a noted difficult boarding school
Test scores: my act was a 32 and 34 superscored
College stats: I did terribly my first trimester and I got a 2.53 gpa but my second trimester I got a 3.9 my third I got a 4.0 as well, hoping for another 4.0 next trimester
College ecs: president of one club present in several others
I’m looking at what my chances will be to any of these colleges
Are you trying to transfer in as second semester sophomore or as a junior? The longer time spent in college, the less important your high school stats are. Going purely by stats, your high school record indicates it would be an uphill battle to get into some of these schools, mainly due to your GPA, but if your school has a good reputation, then it will most likely be viewed in a different light.
Your first trimester GPA will not help, but since you are on an upward trend that is definitely a positive.
What are your main reasons for transferring? What can you get at those schools that you cannot at Union? For transfer applications, you need to demonstrate why that college is a good fit for what you want and show what you have learned at your previous college and why it was not the best match for you. Something simple as “a higher ranking” or other lower priority things (weather, food, dorms etc.) are not enough to cut it. You need academic and/ or social reasons for transferring, with more of a leaning towards academic.
