Tufts and Vista, Office 2007

I wanted to point out the following web page on Tuft’s TCCS web site on Microsoft Vista and Office 2007 - http://uit.tufts.edu/?pid=587</a>. The incoming freshmen of class 2011 will likely purchase laptops and, if they buy a Windows laptop, need to decide if they purchase Windows Vista or Windows XP and Office 2003 or Office 2007. The web page above essentially says stick with Windows XP and Office 2003 for now, as the IT department isn’t ready for Vista and Office 2007 yet.

If anyone knows differently, please let us know. Thanks.

It doesn’t really matter… If you could buy a new computer that comes with Vista and Office 07, then do it. It’ll save you hundreds of dollars a year from now when XP becomes obsolete and you need to upgrade.

Basically all you have to know is that you need to save files under compatibility mode for Office 07 if you want to open it with a computer on campus, or if you are handing in an assignment electronically to a professor.
