Tufts International Relations Question:

Is there significant difference between IR and IS? I know that IR is probably a tad more politically-oriented, but after reading through the IR Bulletin (the green handbook) its breadth and adaptation for individual focuses reminds me of an International Studies degree. Also, How do Tufts IR graduates fair for graduate school (as long as they have good grades, of course)?

Strictly speaking, IR is a subfield of political science, and is therefore more focused than IS. However, there’s quite a bit of overlap between the two. Tufts currently allows students wide leeway in choosing what courses to count for IR, but there is a movement underway to make the degree more focused.
