Tufts interview - tips

Have an interview with a local alumni tomorrow, in a hotel.

Just wanted some general tips. How should I conduct myself? Offer to buy him a drink? Be more formal? Is the interview likely to be more academic or personal?

My son had his Tufts interview over this past weekend. He met with the alumna at a local coffee shop. The met for about 40 minutes. He tells me the interview was cordial, casual and friendly. Mostly informational and personal. She bought him a hot chocolate.

Make sure you have a few intelligent questions to ask the interviewer - things you couldn’t learn by reading the web site. For example, you might ask why the alum chose to attend Tufts, what the highlights of their time there was, and what advice they would offer to an incoming student in order to get the most out of their experience. It’s partly about building a rapport and demonstrating the kind of social skills that would make you an asset to the school.
