DC is considering applying to Tufts for ED1. GPA is 3.98UW/4.45W. SAT is 1470…large urban high school. Should they apply TO?

DD really wants to go to Tufts. Will ED.
SAT: 1420
GPA: 4.28 / 3.8
Major: Biology / pre-med track
Good ECs: Certified EMT through competitive selection, 300 hours on shift… Volunteer at local hospital 100 hours… Tutors ADHD student over 70 hours.
Varsity Sailor, team Captain. Varsity swimmer.
National Honors Society

Large sub-urban public school.

I forgot to add… She has around 12 APs…mostly 4s and a few 5. One 2 in AP Physics.

Her best bet is as an athletic recruit. Has she contacted the sailing or swimming team coaches? Is she recruitable? Latest CDS info for Tufts reports the 25th percentile SAT is 1470, so the 1420 SAT is low.

I read somewhere that Tufts usually releases ED decisions on Tuesdays. Is everyone thinking one week from today is THE day?

I don’t think so…according to this, last year it was 12/14, which was a Thursday.

The withdraw button vanished this morning. It’s getting real!

My daughter’s bf was just deferred from the School of Engineering. We are saddened and now second-guessing if he should have applied ED instead to CAS and then transferred to SoE. Any thoughts on SoE deferrals or how Tufts ED deferrrals play out?

Unlike some schools, Tufts defers a very small percentage of its ED applicants so it’s an indication of a very strong application. I have a student at Tufts and I remember on admitted students day meeting a few kids who were originally deferred and then admitted in RD. I’d say there’s a very good chance. My daughter submitted an ED2 application on January 5th, but still hasn’t gotten an email confirmation, nor has she gotten access to the portal yet. I suspect this might be because so many kids (ED2 and Rd) all submitted applications at the same time. But I’m wondering if other applicants are still waiting too?

She called admissions and confirmed they received the application, but she’d like to schedule an interview, and she needs portal access to do that.

mine applied RD in late December and received portal info pretty quickly after that.
