Thanks for starting this! Brand new to TE (my college wasn’t in TE when older daughter applied). For those who have been through this before are there any late spring/early summer deadlines we should be aware of. Do I need to let my own HR know we will be applying?
The deadlines are specific to the college the student is applying to. To be on the safe side, assume the Tuition Exchange Scholarship Application is due the same time as the Admissions Application. Some schools have a later deadline separate from the Admissions deadline, but many schools have deadlines the same time as the admissions deadline.
I saw on the Tuition Exchange FAQ that they put out a list May 1st of schools that still have scholarships available***. Does anyone know how to find past May 1st lists of schools that have TEs available? ***
Tuition Exchange Scholarships seem pretty competitive at most schools (10% and 3% at the schools on my childs list so far) so I thought it would be helpful look at past lists of schools whom had availability as of May 1st to identify ones that might have higher TE acceptance rates. I can’t seem to find it in a simple google search. Anyone know where this historic data might be?
Have you tried reaching out to TE itself? They might be able to provide the lists from the last several years.
You should reach out the TE liaison at your college - s/he will have the info on the exporting process that is specific to your school. Where I work, we had to notify HR in September if we intended to apply for TE anywhere, so they could certify us first.

We have an older sibling on TE now. For my current HS Junior, he plans to apply to Colleges as soon as apps open this summer (July 1 or August 1 for most colleges). All of his visits/tours and open houses were done Junior year so he now has about 10 schools on his list. I will then submit TE information to our home institution HR department and TELO shortly after. It has been our experience, the earlier the better for all things college-search.

I have seen some of them noted in other TE threads for past years. If you scroll to the posts from May you should be able to find partial lists.
We just finished this cycle. My only is off to school this fall. I wanted to share his info here as an FYI. I scoured the internet last summer so I hope this is helpful. Wishing you all lots of luck!
My kid is a similar profile. Will graduate with 60 college credits and an associates degree. 3.6 unweighted, 3 years of model un, 3 years of varsity sport, part of a special diversity cohort, 2 summer precollege programs. Pusuing engineering. We are in NYS. The TE schools he applied to:
Syracuse - $40K merit, withdrew before TE decision
Pitt - top choice, denied te and no merit
Delaware - $15k merit, denied TE, waitlisted for honors, accepted to spectrum scholars,
RIT -$32K merit, no TE
Stevens - $33K merit initially, accepted to accelerated masters and iSTEM, offered TE in mid-March. Enrolled
Drexel- initially $40K merit, accepted to accelerated masters, waitlisted for TE, offered TE in early March
I wish the stats had been posted on the TE site like the are now. We may have expanded the search. It was a disheartening, frustrating journey with respect to TE and ultimately, his top school for the majority of the admissions cycle (Pitt) is a public OOS flagship that is more expensive than the rest. Delaware was the same.
Fortunately, he ended up falling in love with Stevens. It was a slow burn, but their very personal approach and outreach had a really positive impact.
He committed in mid-April so not sure if he hadn’t withdrawn from the other schools at that point if anywhere may have come back with more. I know at least one family who was offered more merit at Delaware just after May 1.

Hi! I’m new here. I have a DD27 that will be applying for TE this fall. I’m curious if anyone has ever applied EA or ED to a school with Tuition Exchange and how it works for early applications? Thanks!

We did all EA for both my kids who received TE offers. ED is if you are committing no matter what if they offer you a spot (there are nuances, but that’s the gist). I highly recommend getting all apps in EA, because some TE deadlines are before regular apps are due.

Same here. He ended up getting 2 TE offers at Stevens and Drexel. (Withdrew from Syracuse after admission and before they communicated TE status). TE was Denied at Pitt, Delaware, and RIT.
He applied EA to every school except Syracuse since they didn’t have it. We couldn’t financially risk it with ED.
For Pitt, you have to be accepted by 12/1 to be considered, so apply early! This is a super tough one to get and was a heartbreaker when it didn’t happen for us. It was his top choice.

I am so grateful to have found this thread. My child will be HS graduation June 2027 so ideally start college Fall 2027, but through my employer I am not eligible for TE until Spring 2028. Seems like there are several ways to manage this, but none of them seem good. I’m afraid if he applies for TE for Fall 2027 that it will be automatically rejected b/c of ineligibility. Has anyone encountered this situation before? Do TE applications generally consider Spring start dates?

Check with your home school. In our case, we were required to finalize the list by mid-October for export. If you’re not eligible until Spring, you may need to wait to apply until the following year. Make sure as you get your list together to see if they will giver to students other than first time (it’s something like that language on the te site). U Del, for example, does this so while your student may not be awarded TE in their first year, you can apply again in subsequent years. At Pitt, if you don’t get it at entry, that’s it.

Hi everyone, this is a great feed. Thank you for starting it. We are new to this program as well and I have a few questions. As I understand, the CIC and TE program are combining for this year for the first time with the TE online program. The school I work for has both.
- Does that mean we can only choose 20 total schools between the two programs where I assume all the previous years you chose 20 for each?
- Is there a way to rank the schools from 1 to 20 on desirability on the TE site or is it just the list of 20 alphabetically?
- How do I apply for each of the 20 schools that are on our list? Do we do it through the TE site or do we apply directly through each college?
- One thing I don’t understand what the dates is you were able to create a tuition exchange account as of July 1, 2026 for the 27-28 school year, however, my school says I have to wait to get an email from them on August 1 before I can apply to the program. Does that mean my school will not review my TE application of 20 schools until August 1 and then export them out so that those 20 schools can see we are interested in going there?
