tuition payment snag

Has anyone had any problems after sending in their payment for the fall semester? We sent it in from a 529 plan and even though the check was sent on 7/27, the bursar says they have not yet received it. The bursar's office told me on the phone that it was best to send the check directly to the bursar's office address of 726 Broadway, even though the bill itself had an NYU post office box, which is the address we thought we were supposed to use. I was told it would get there no matter which address was used, but since we sent it to the P.O. box, it would delay how quickly the payment was acknowledged. This is extremely frustrating, since we assumed the return address on the bill was the one to send it to. Has this happened to anyone else? How long does it typically take to proces payments??
