Tuition + Taxes?

I’m trying to figure out how much money I need in private loans. I only need to take out 1 private loan this year for room and housing. I have received federal grants and scholarships which pretty much cover my tuition. My question is, are the tuition amounts and housing amount that a university provides that price or does it exclude taxes? I’m not sure if there are hidden fees they throw at you when you receive the billing invoice. Oh, by the way, I’ve calculated student health insurance fees and all that too.

Does your school have an estimated COA (cost of attendance)? They are pretty accurate as far as costs. Should be no additional taxes - Ds school (a State U) adds a pretty big chunk in fees - they are per credit hour and add up to alomost as much again as the tuition (and of course are not covered by the full tuition waiver she has :frowning: ). But if your school has such fees they should be shown in the COA.
