Tulane is a great school, clearly rising in popularity, but there’s some number fudging going on here. According to the CDS data set Tulane got 1659 ED applications last year thus a 35% increase would be 2239 ED applications this cycle. Jeff Schiffman, director of admissions was quoted on Jan 22nd 2020 as saying Tulane had a 27% increase in EDI admissions (2106 applicants) and admitted exactly 631 students for the class of 2024 through ED1. Perhaps they admitted another 133 students through EDII? That would give them 767 students admitted from EDI and EDII, with an expected incoming class size of 1875. Is 767 half of 1875? Not quite. But it sure helps Tulane’s yield. And drives down the acceptance rate for EA/RD since they’re only looking for another 1000 or so students. All good news for those who like to keep score by the numbers…
