This is the official discussion thread for Tulane Class of 2029 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
For reference the following are the dates that Tulane has released RD decisions the last 4 years. They also post on their Instagram the day before “decisions will post at X time tomorrow”.
3/31/2021
3/30/2022
3/9/2023
3/8/2024
Tulane hasn’t posted the Common Data Set from last year yet. I posted the table below on the ED thread as well. We’ve been hearing rumors that admissions is moving away from the heavy reliance on ED to give more RD applicants opportunity but we’ve not seen that bear out in the numbers yet (possibly the latest CDS?). They do not break out acceptance by EA/RD.
The large drop in Total applicants going from '21 to '22 is due to the school no longer considering incomplete applications.

The school just announced that given the wildfire situation the RD application deadline has been extended to 2/1 for LA area students.
Does everyone keep getting these emails telling you to back out if you committed somewhere else? We have been a bit turned off. They seem to be so obsessed with their yield. Maybe we are reading it wrong but not a single other school has sent numerous emails about withdrawing the application. One email I get - we received our 3rd today. My son has been accepted to one of his top choices so we may withdraw the application but he also wants to see what all of his options are in the end and do a final visit and review. My husband went to Tulane and is getting frustrated at the emails. Are we the only ones that are frustrated with the yield obsession?
When S23 applied EA and was deferred to RD, yes - we got similar emails. I do seem to recall that we got similar emails from one or two other schools (though it was a couple of years ago and can’t recall specifically who).
If your student wants to stay in the applicant pool, delete the email and don’t think too much about it.
I suspect there’s a good number of students that get admitted to their #1 choice, place a deposit there and then forget to withdraw applications at any of the schools they were waiting on. My sense was always that those emails were targeted at those applicants.
RD results are coming out today as per IG!
Ha, just came to post that… “The last 1,000+ of our Regular Decision admission offers are coming today.”
Happy Mardi Gras everyone!!
Is there a typical time that they tend to release decisions? Say, 4ish Central?
Decisions are out.

Rejected. But my daughter missed the Early Action deadline so we sort of expected this.
Admitted after being deferred EA. 33 ACT, 3.93UW, 4.5W, strong but not spectacular ECs. Toured the school, so showed interest - (and she is definitely very interested)!
Admitted with $10k merit scholarship. 3.9 UW, 33 ACT, Lots of leadership ECs and sports
waitlisted. 3.7 UW, 33 ACT, state leadership in hosa, multiple ECs. Not sure we want to continue showing interest.
For those placed on WL - if helpful here’s the statistics for the last few year. What is NOT part of the data set is how many of those admitted from the WL actually enrolled.
24-25 | 23-24 | 22-23 | 21-22 | 20-21 | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Placed on WL | 4,192 | 4,062 | 6,232 | 5,072 | 12,813 |
Accepting WL | 2,290 | 2,168 | 2,271 | 1,871 | 4,486 |
Admitted from WL | 432 | 43 | 3 | - | 72 |
Son admitted, good scores, high rigor HS. Older sibling went there as well.
Sibling had excellent outcomes there, highly recommend it!
Family really enjoyed it as well.
Also do not under estimate the value of being admitted across all different majors at Tulane, direct admit to all majors, there is a big value in this you dont get at many other schools.
You’re not the only one. I wish Tulane didn’t do some of the things it does and could just shine based on its stellar and unique qualities, which are abundant. No need to do a lot of this extra, over-the-top stuff that they do to maintain their low percentage of admits each year. You’re awesome, just be awesome!
