rejected OOS Florida
I’m hoping I can provide some insight here. Looking at Tulane’s ZeeMee acceptance group, it appears as though they have once again over enrolled, which in turn probably resulted in these difficult decisions. On this site alone, over 1,700 people have been accepted, and I’m certain there are tons of other students accepted as well.
Clearly this process was very frustrating, but you shouldn’t let the outcome define you, or the prospects for future applicants. Schools go through times such as this, we just so happened be caught in the middle of it. The school is fantastic, but had an unfortunate application season. Hopefully they will improve greatly next year, based on feedback from current applicants.
It’s also important to note that, even though you may not have received the decision you expected, perhaps this was just not where you were meant to end up. The world (and God) work in mysterious ways. Take this as a learning process (you have learned more about yourselves and then some). Based on what I’ve read on these threads, you are all exceptional students and will be successful no matter where you attend college. Your college experience is what you choose to make of it…don’t mess it up.
I was waitlisted at Tulane but accepted to Vanderbilt which seemed weird to me until I started reading this thread. I think PrctnPlz is right, it just happened to be an awful application season. Good luck to everybody
@SetAnExample No, Applications have always been free to everyone.
@hamlyt25 don’t know where you’re from but we live near Nashville. Vandy is an awesome school in a safe and fun city!
@gogogogobruins I’m from Evanston IL and that’s really good to hear since that’s where I’ve decided to go!
Does anyone know if their waitlist is binding?
i don’t believe it is. it’s just a waitlist.
Hey guys - saw some comments on CC about Tulane’s numbers for this year. Just saw that this article was posted, and thought it would be helpful!
https://news.tulane.edu/news/class-2021-reflects-tulane%E2%80%99s-most-qualified-applicants
Does this mean it’s doubtful Tulane will go to the waitlist this year?
They did not offer anyone from the waitlist in last years Class of 2020
that’s true they didn’t offer anyone from the waitlist…so let’s just hope that won’t happen this year…
They had to make arrangements in a couple of dorms to house last year’s class that came in with a higher yield. Will be interesting to see if they keep that size class going forward since they had to buy additional dorm furniture and make some rooms triples instead of doubles.
I’m really hoping they go to it this year! Does anyone have any idea when we might know if they are or not? Hopefully before May 1st?
I don’t think they will keep that size, because everyone students must live on campus for first two year, so I predict the enrollment will like 2019er
is a guaranteed transfer better or worst than the wait list? I know that I am guaranteed a spot for next year, but does that take me out of the pool for this year?
@hannahbanaannaa I have no idea if it takes you out of the pool for this year or not, but I know I would have preferred guaranteed transfer over just being a fall waitlist. At least if you really want to go to Tulane, you have the opportunity to do so. I really want to go, but being put on the fall waitlist, I’m not sure if that is likely to happen.
@TulaneBarry It may be too early to know yet, but do you have any insight on the waitlist at this point?
We just let Tulane know my D will not be attending in the Fall. She has decided to attend UMD Business School (we are in-state) after visiting their campus and discussing 5 year Master degree options with them. UMD offers 8-9 different degrees whereas Tulane had only the 5 year Masters of Accounting program. Both have great business schools but economics of graduating with an advanced degree from a very strong program with no debt was a great choice for her. She was accepted EA with 3.9 UW 1460 SAT and awarded 27K merit scholarship at Tulane. We loved Tulane and wish all that attend the best of luck in their studies.
We are visiting Friday. We couldn’t visit on Top Scholars Day and this is our last chance to see Tulane before our son makes a decision. Looking forward to the visit.
