Does Tulane give out merit scholarships? I read Jeff Sellingo’ book and Tulane is on his list for giving generous scholarships. Not sure how true. Thanks.

Yes, they give out merit scholarships but anecdotally I’ve heard that over more recent years have transitioned to spending more of their merit money into the need-based. I have no (and have not seen) actual data to support if that’s true - and how it might or might not have shifted for International applicants.

Yes my son received 20K a year last year EA (34 act, 3.9 unweighted), and my daughter received 15K/year back in 2020 ED (33 act, 3.85 unweighted)

Curious, was your son accepted EA or was he deferred to RD and then accepted? My son was an EA applicant the year before last and the sense I got on the boards was thatvery few got accepted EA. They got deferred to EA and received the “switch to ED2” email option.

Congrats in either case!

Does anyone know off the top of their heads the ED2 date? Thanks!

The answer to your question is important and should be obtained by the verified/official school website, which, luckily, has this information easily available.

Where you think i got the answer? Im not sure why poster asked here when a 4 word google search would have brought them to the school page… but i wasn’t going to make up an answer…

I apologize for asking. I didn’t mean to make it a thing. Yes, I could have googled. I was elsewhere on this site and just lazily asked. It won’t happen again. Apologies everyone.

No worries, from my POV. I just wanted to make sure that you get all your impt info from the source. Good luck!

FTR - I have no issue with you asking (or me answering)…

Post your ED application stats here. 3.78 unweighted, test optional. Lots of demonstrated interest. Hoping for the best! I hear the admit rate will be around 50% this year.

For those that might be interested - they’ve yet to release the CDS for last years applicant cohort but the table below shows application statistics for the last few years.

To your point about “hearing the admit rate around 50%” keep in mind ED1 is going to include recruited athletes so it can skew the numbers some.

That’s an interesting graphic. Would love to know the percentage of ED applicants who receive merit aid. Overall apps are definitely down over the years but I understand that has to do with Tulane counting incomplete applications in the past. Would also love to know the ED acceptance rate from last year, but I guess they won’t publish that until the new CDS comes out.

That’s the million dollar question, right? Unfortunately I don’t think anyone but the school knows that information - conjecture generally is that someone applying ED has already committed to the school and they don’t need to open the purse to incentivize the student/family.

Tulane DOES do pretty well meeting need though - so run the NPC on their website and even if you apply ED, if there’s need, you can see what - roughly - you’d be expected to come up with.

Thank you for this information. Our tour guide did tell us when we took the tour last year that there is a huge difference in the percentage accepted ED and the percentage accepted EA/RD. I can see that was not an exaggeration.

my daughter and her roommate both received merit ED but that was pre-covid
