when is the best time to book thanksgiving 2015? It is so expensive on jet blue and delta
Do you have Southwest Air where you are? Does Tulane get the whole week off or just a few days?
My son doesn’t go there, but I’ve already book his thanksgiving flights in Southwest. My limited research indicates flight prices at our endpoints only goes up as it gets closer.
My D doesn’t go to Tulane, but she is a 10 hour drive home, so I booked her flight for Thanksgiving 5 weeks ago.
I booked my D’s trip for Thanksgiving on Southwest. She doesn’t go to Tulane but we live in NOLA so it will be similar to the OP’s trip, in reverse. It’s already expensive but at least on SW you can change the day without penalty. You WILL pay the extra cost of the flight you change to and that will only get more and more expensive the closer it is to November.
Also, flights will fill up!
You should book now for the cheap fare and if you change your plan, you can rebook on Southwest with no penalty but they have the cheapest fares now and more choices.
Thanksgiving is an expensive time to travel. It will not get any less expensive if you wait. If they can go back on Saturday instead of Sunday, or come home the weekend before Thanksgiving instead of Tuesday or Wednesday, you may be able to save a bit, but usually most college schedules don’t allow much flexibility.
