My guess would be youll get an email in the coming weeks asking if you want to swith to ED2.

Historically, acceptance in RD is slight. There is no data about those deferred versus applied RD, but they accepted only about 400 in RD last year. You will likely get an email asking if you want to switch to ED2. Not suggesting you should, but if Tulane is your top choice you may want to consider.

Where are you seeing honors college? My understanding is that there is no honors college at Tulane any longer? Honors Program < Tulane University

There is no honors college. There is an honors scholars program - as i understand it from folks on the FB group it gives some preferential treatment for registration during first year… not sure how much it offers beyond that.

Curious to understand whether invitation to Honors College/Scholars Program as part of today’s EA acceptances is typically a pre-requisite for either the DHS or PTA? Looking at past years’ threads, it seems not to be the case (although it may help). Any insights?

Admitted today EA with $20K Founder’s - super, super excited and grateful! But need to continue evaluating options only due to the current economics and loans needed to make it work…either PTA or DHS would result in immediate commitment. Sounds like those will only be known in Feb or even March.

-Accepted in-state
-25k per year merit (And honors)
-4.0uw (+ valedictorian)
-35 ACT superscore
-Student body/ student council President, class President, internship, tutoring, family responsibilities, volunteering, and some other stuff…
-Several state level awards for Spanish and science fairs as well as being a Gates scholarship Semifinalist
-Visited and said something mentioned by tour guide. I personally felt like my Why Tulane essay was a 8/10 (pretty good)
LOTS of demonstrated interest, including virtual sessions and talking to my region’s admissions officer.

The honors scholar notification was the 3rd paragraph on admissions letter …

It basically said with admittance you are invited to become a member of Tulane’s First- Year Honors Scholar etc.

This was a surprise to us … at other schools we had to apply for similar programs.

Like you we still hope we can work it all out financially and need a little more help. My son applied for the competitive scholarships and that would make this a no brainer!

We are beyond thrilled and this is definitely his 1st choice.

I think if you compare them youll find its not a similar program. Tulane honors scholar program isnt near as extensive as the honors colleges at some other schools. Not saying it isn’t a great thing to get but its fairly different.

Tulane’s Honors Program involves a few Honors seminars, an honors dorm, and preferential registration. They dangle it as a perk to enroll.

IMO, Tulane uses EA to fill institutional priorities or kids with very high test scores, both of whom receive a large portion of merit money. ED2 is mainly full-paying students. RD is the toughest round by far.

400? Seems incredibly low. Does no one apply to Tulane RD? Seems pointless if those numbers are anywhere close to accurate.

Those are some amazing ECs. I’m surprised you guys didn’t get more money.

The 400 or “almost 400” is 100% accurate (can find it in the school IG post last year). People last year said the 400 was sn increase from the year before.

Historically Tulane enrolls the bulk of their students from the ED rounds. From the sounds of the post today it seems quite a few may have gotten in EA so maybe they’re changing strategy but time will tell.
