Tulum

My daughters suggested a trip to Tulum (Mexico) for a Mother’s Day getaway. We would go for a week. It’s been a long winter and I’m happy to go any place that’s warm. Anyone have recommendations for places to stay or things to do (other than hanging out at the beach). Is it too hot in May? Would love to hear suggestions from posters who have been there.

Wife and I went to Tulum as part of a trip we took 18 years ago to Cancun. Tulum was awesome. We went in September and it was hot, but bearable, I guess it all depends upon you tolerance for heat. We stayed in the El Centro area of Cancun to avoid some of the touristas.

We were able to climb down the cliffs and take a dip in the Caribbean. Beautiful clear water and the ruins were stunning. You can observe the people of the Yucatan going about their ordinary lives. There was not a lot of build up other than touristy beach things when we were there…again, it has been some time. To me, Tulum was absolutely the best part of our trip.
