<p>I was told that the tunnels were closed a few years ago because they were “unsafe” due to poor lighting? Is that still the case? if so, are there plans to reopen them up soon? I can’t believe Carleton wouldn’t spend the money to fix those tunnels, and just let them go unused in the winters. Any body have any info? This is a BIG factor for my son, a Calif. kid, who would be much more interested in the school if those tunnels were going to be reopened.</p>
<p>If by a few years ago you mean 1988 then yes they have been closed for a few years. Unfortunately there are no plans to reopen them they due to the fact that there is a lot of asbestos in them. Right now they just use them to run utilities.</p>
