Has anyone else had the problem I am having? My university needs my tax return in order to complete my financial aid evaluation/package. My 1040A was completed on Turbo Tax (the free one). I answered the question that I was being claimed as a dependent on my parents return and answered that I had no dependents. TurboTax left all exemption lines blank instead of inserting a ZERO and my university will not accept the return without a Zero. I tried to talk with TurboTax and THEY DO NOT GET IT! Anyone else run into this?

Your school only needs a copy of your tax return…just write in the zeroes if it makes them feel better.

Because the lines have been left blank by Turbo Tax (a common turbo tax feature), the tax return looks incomplete. Incomplete tax returns cannot be accepted by FA Offices…that is why they do not want to accept the return you presented them. If writing in the zeros doesn’t work, just download a blank 1040A from the IRS website and copy over all the figures, adding in the exemption zeros to the blank form. Just make sure you sign the 2nd page.
