Hi CC,

I’m seeking advice. For the last two weeks, I’ve been part of a group for a class final assignment. As usual, there are members in the group who don’t do any work, have been absent most days, and aren’t taking the thing seriously. On the other hand, fortunately, there is a group member that does and I’ve been able to work with her solely as if it was just the two of us.

I think she’s really cool and just from talking to her in class primarily, we have quite a few things in common I have learned. We’ve planned to meet up sometime this week to discuss the project. While I would like to accomplish this, I would not mind making a stride toward becoming more of a friend and less of just “a group member.”

I have nowhere as many friends of the opposite sex as I do of my sex. This is part of the problem for me. I was wondering, how can I become someone she sees as more than just a “person in [her] group” and someone she would hang out with? I figure me becoming her friend isn’t really on her list or agenda to begin with. Just from experience, I haven’t made friends with chicks as easily I do with the dudes.
