any thoughts? what would be better???

If you’re an undergraduate looking to have an active social life with other undergraduates, I do not recommend Tuscany. I lived there last year and it is the biggest inconvenience you can have when it comes to spending time with other undergrads at their apartments/partying.

I don’t know much about Chez Ronnee, but I can definitely say that I only recommend Tuscany to those who want a more quiet social life or don’t mind having to make an incredible trek to any party they ever want to go. They have good food options downstairs, but if you expect to spend your weekends going out to parties on the row or just on the north side of campus, living at Tuscany will make getting there and back home a huge inconvenience.

Tuscany is closer to campus than Chez Ronnee. Not all parties are on the row, after all.

Both of them are really expensive and known for that.

Tuscany is nicer than Chez Ronnee. I also remember Tuscany being very full of UGs and very social; I went to many parties there in my time at USC. But, this could have changed when Conquest went out of business.

If you are a business, art or engineering major, you will find Tuscany is much closer to the South area of campus where your classes will be than any other apartments. It also has a lot of food options in the building, which can be nice.

Both are very expensive, though, and I suggest you look at non-USC owned or operated buildings.

Both are also on tram routes, but Tuscany has it’s own designated van route to the Row as well.

Thank you very much for your help !!! :D

My son was in Tuscany and for him the location was inconvenient. He wanted to be near the Row and also the Fitness Center. Chez Ronnee is much closer to these two.

Key words – “for him.” Not everyone is concerned with living near the Row. When I was an UG, I wanted to be as far away from the Row as possible for obvious reasons.

If you don’t mind noise, lots of foot traffic and crowded streets, then I guess living by the Row is OK. But if you want the option of living in a quiet place, don’t live near the Row. Besides, you can always walk/bike or take the tram/Cruiser to the Row while having the luxury of living away from all the hubbub.

Also, I don’t want any incoming freshman to think the Row is the be all/end all of having a social life at USC. The best parties I went to were non-Greek parties off the Row!

That’s right Zelda, I said “for him.” This is a forum where people can give their diverse opinions. It’s not a “right or wrong” issue. I specified why he did not like the Tuscany location so others can decide whether those same issues are important to them or not.

I mean, if money is of no problem, Tuscany. I’m pretty sure its like 800-1000$ per bed there. I think you can find better options around for cheaper, with your own room and bathroom. Jussssstt saying. :)

what about Chez Ronne? is it quiet? or social?

Chez Ronne is a very popular sophomore+ apartment complex. A lot of Greek students live there and throw pre-game parties or regular parties in the big courtyard of Chez Ronne. Yes, I guess it is technically farther to campus than Tuscany, but CR is in the heart of North Campus, where 95% of all parties occur. Tuscany is closer to the campus but nowhere near where any parties are happening. Tuscany is by far the nicer place though. Depends what you are looking for. Like others mentioned, there is a tram taking you from Tuscany to near the Row which you can utilize, since parties will all be in that general area.

or just call campus cruiser

Tuscany is definitely more expensive and there are much cheaper options.

I don’t know what the OP is looking for – but if you want the option to have “quiet time,” or suspect you’re not going to go to frat parties, I wouldn’t recommend living anywhere near the Row. That immediate area can be loud at certain times and there are always people around. It might not be the OPs “scene.”
