I like the Heck house, it seems lived in. Not my taste as far as furnishings go, but it seems like an average home. My house growing up was very neat, but there were only 4 of us. My good friend around the corner had a big house but 6 siblings and it was always chaos. Not dirty, but definitely lived in. That third child can throw off the balance!

We’re also big Modern Family fans. I loved the episode last season when Haley goes off to college. It’s really sweet. And the one where she gets kicked out is pretty funny too!

This sitcom has to be the most underrated in terms of how great a job Patricia Heaton and her co-stars do making the characters seem so “real.” I like that there is no pretense and polish of family life…it just feels normal on so many levels.

I have to confess that I only got hooked onto the series after an episode about Axl and test preparation and getting ready for college. Just seemed to fall into the timeline of our lives at the correct moment.

Anyone cringe though at the amount of nightly fast food consumed by the Hechts? I don’t know if I missed any episodes that addressed it, but do Frankie or Mike not cook at all? Like even grill on the BBQ?

^^^^I’ve noticed that. I think they are trying to make the point that Frankie and Mike work so much and are basically overwhelmed with their lives that they don’t have time to cook.

Though Axl did make the point once that eating her cooking was much worse.

I love the Middle. Especially when Axl was supposed to be preparing for SAT. They always seem to be on the mark heart-wise.
Last season was the duct-taped dishwasher, this season the washer–too funny!

I love Sue, and, yes, the actress is really pretty. I wonder how long Sue will stay in the those braces. I’d love to see them come off and she become a bombshell and Axl have to deal with that.

Yes! The fact that Mike got emotional. Earlier today in reruns, I saw the episode where Mike wouldn’t be sad that his office cat dies, so when he got emotional tonight it hit me.

We sang Cats in the Cradle in my junior high music class 30+ years ago while our talented music teacher sang and played along on his acoustic guitar. Best music teacher ever!! He passed away in Oct, so tears for sure … and fond memories.

I was quoting the lyrics along with Mike. That’s one of my favorite songs. I saw Harry Chapin in concert at college the evening after I took the GRE’s.

This show has just pulled at the family heartstrings with several episodes relating to launching your first out from the nest to college.

Cats in the Cradle and Mike & Axyl last night definitely was emotional. But, the real pull happened for me when Brick & Axyl sat down eating cereal together at the end reflecting on their dad’s mortality. It was surprisingly poignant for a comedy.

Yes, that was an excellent episode. I feel as if the writers are peeking into our house sometimes! Axl not wanting to participate in family activities, for example, then changing his mind.
