TV show "The Middle"

Does anyone watch “the middle”? It is a comedy about a middle class family in the middle of the country. They have three children and the oldest, Axl, just went off to a fictional university.

Last week’s episode was about the whole family taking Axl to college. He was more interested in meeting people and having fun than saying goodbye to his family. The mother gave her goodbye speech to her son’s oblivious roommate - very touching.

This week’s episode was about the mom’s frustration because her son will not reply to her texts!! Both episodes were very funny and heartwarming in the end. I have enjoyed them at this stage of my life.

I think * The Middle* is hilarious. The show last season about the “Life Skills” class Sue and Axl got thrown into together had me rolling. And the graduation episode where the Mom has finally had it with Axl’s attitude and literally tackles him in the yard to put proper socks on him had me laughing so hard that tears were coming out of my eyes.

I could relate to last night’s episode. I enjoyed seeing how the family adjusted to the son being gone. The father was so strong…until there was no one to watch the Colts game with. And I love the text that Axl FINALLY sent his mom.

I was interrupted watching. What was the text to his mom?

“send shampoo”

The part about text messages was so true to my life. My S will send texts to his dad, answer his dad’s messages, ignores mine. But at least he goes and buys his own shampoo.

Dh is jealous because I get most of the calls and e-mails and texts.

I thought the funniest part of last week’s episode was that Axl came home, and was digging in the refrigerator, before they returned home from dropping him off. Moral of the story: Send you kid far away, very far away.

I love this show and have been watching it from the beginning; very true to life with the goings on when the kids were smaller and now still when high school and college are in the mix. Though I didn’t have a Sue or Brick, I did have a very similar to Axl in the house!

I’ll admit that I felt a lump in my throat when Mike was sitting on the couch alone. Wife then reminded me that I had long phone conversations with both of our (post college) children yesterday while she was off running errands. She can’t complain, though, she usually speaks to each of them at least three times a week to my once or twice.

Also related to Brick being afraid to use the middle school boys’ room, but for me it was high school.

I loved how Sue was celebrating being free from Axl’s torture!

Even DH saw that Frankie and I had similar experiences with our sons. They hardly ever respond to my messages, but they do to DH. It doesn’t matter how infrequently I contact them, I think they see it’s from me and just ignore it.

Love that show. I thought of CC while I was watching it.

I love that show. Last night’s episode brought tears to my eyes. It feels like my life story. But, it really doesn’t get the acclaim that it should. It’s in the shadow of Modern Family.

Modern Family seems to be the fair-haired child, but The Middle rings so true with us!!

It often makes me laugh. More often than not, I get caught up in the accuracy of the show as it relates to my home state. I loved the episode a couple of years ago when Frankie was going to volunteer at the Super Bowl. About that time Indianapolis was hosting the Super Bowl and used a lot of volunteers for a variety of things.

That said, some of the ways the show brings in “real life” Indiana stretches the truth a little bit. For example, Mike works in some type of limestone quarry. References to where the family lives, like the drive to Brown County or Indianapolis don’t exactly make sense if he works with limestone. I try to remember it’s only television though.

Overall, it’s pretty funny.

I love The Middle and Modern Family. Very different from each other but both so funny. I missed this week’s episodes. Was Suburbia back? Also love The Neighbors but don’t know if they renewed that. I don’t watch a lot of TV. Those four shows are about it!

Watching it right now. Axl is fed up with his roommate and goes home to complain. Very funny!

The Heck house is so messy. It reminds me of the house I grew up in (5 kids). I used to be embarrassed to have friends over because it was such a mess all the time. Maybe that’s why I keep my house so neat now.

I love the endings of the shows and am trying to remember the line from last night. It was something about not getting depressed, because “there will be a new potato next week.”
