<p>(Note: Pronounce ‘SAT’ as ‘sat’, and ‘S-A-T’ as “ess-ay-tee”)</p>
<p>'Twas the night before SAT scores, and all through CC
All the students were stirring, pondering what they might be</p>
<p>College apps had been written with all sorts of care
Lacking only the scores that soon would be there</p>
<p>All the adcoms were laying still in their beds
Torrents of applicants swirling 'round their heads
Parents sound asleep, brother in his slumber
Yet around the silent house I did lumber
I settled down, integrating some Calculus
My PC speakers creating quite the ruckus
When from yonder window I heard such a racket
Could it be, a premature results packet?
I dashed to the door, expecting a sight
Of the great College Board in all of its might
But instead I saw, much to my wonder…</p>
<p>…Eight college-bound mascots, making a thunder
Their gait and their glow, their eminent prestige
I knew in a jiffy it must be ivy-league!
And then from among them them, I heard quite a shout
From a teenage genius, he called them about,
“To Dartmouth, to Yale, to Brown and to Princeton!
Columbia, U Penn, Cornell and to Crimson!”
To the chapel, to the quad, to the center of the hall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
And then they were off, wind blown in their wake
Without a pause, off they did take
I missed my last glance of them as they left
Off in their rush to the north, the east, and the west
I turned to my house, disappointment in my heart…</p>
<p>…But then a soft poof made me jump with a start
I whirled around , straining to see what it was
And there was a paper, falling from above
I jumped and reached, trying to catch it
Caught a climpse of a logo, I hoped it legit
Was it my scores, had they finally come?
Had the prodigy dropped my marks on the run?
I snatched the parchment out of the sky
And quickly scanned it with a hungry eye
And suddenly, I felt a feeling inside
The rush of a score in which I found pride
Wonderful marks in writing, in reading
Even in math it was well-worth keeping
Inside I bounded, filled with delight
Sprinting to my parents’ room, I flicked on the light
“Great marks in all, I’m going to college!
My life will be more than eating old porridge!”
The parents arose, still stuck in their dreams
They clearly didn’t understand how wonderful this seemed
I hopped to my brother, who was playing PS2
“Look here, my kin, I’m not such a fool!”
He turned to me, and gave me a look
I for a crazy person, he clearly mistook
But I cared not for the dull reception
To describe their reactions is merely a digression
The point is, that no matter my score
I did my best, and I couldn’t ask for more
To end this tale, I have but one last declamation…</p>
<p>…Good luck to all! Hope you score your perfection!</p>
