ANNAPOLIS, Md. A total of 20 Navy sprint football players have been recognized as All-CSFL members this season, it was released by the league office on Wednesday night.

The Midshipmen topped the league with seven first-team all-league picks, three of which came on offense and defense and one on special teams. CSFL-champion Cornell led the way with its 21 all-league selections, followed by Penns 19, Armys 14 and Princetons 10 student-athletes.

Earning First-Team All-CSFL honors for the third-straight year and all-league distinction in all four seasons is senior defensive end Dave Novotney (Chesterton, Ind.). Novotney made 33 stops on the year, 6.5 of which came behind the line scrimmage with a team-best three sacks. Starting in all 26 games during his career, the senior made 151 tackles with 16 sacks.

Junior running back Richard Engel (Medford, N.J.) led the CSFL in rushing to earn first-team all-league recognition this fall. The running back churned out 659 yards, 109.8 yards per contest, on 115 carries (5.7 ypc) with nine touchdowns. Engel surpassed the 100-yard mark in both contests against Army this year, totaling 302 yards and four touchdowns in those games.

Much of the success produced in the rushing game, which averaged 232 yards per game, came from the solid play of the offensive line. Anchoring the front five were senior offensive captain K.C. Dalton (Reno, Nev.) and sophomore Michael Bosworth (Dripping Springs, Texas), each earning First-Team All-CSFL honors. Dalton was an honorable mention pick in 2004 and a second-team selection in 2005, while this is the first league recognition for Bosworth.

Kicker David Reifenberg (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) became the first Navy freshman to earn all-league honors since Novotney in 2003. Reifenberg converted on all 15 of his extra-point attempts and connected on three-of-four field goal attempts, with his season-long of 33 yards coming against Army.

Named a first-team all-league linebacker for the second-consecutive year, senior defensive captain Ryan Engle (Reed City, Mich.) finished second on the team with 38 tackles, four for a loss, posted a sack and recovered a fumble. Over the past-two seasons, he made 108 tackles in 12 games (9.0 tpg).

Rounding out Navys First-Team All-CSFL selections is sophomore defensive lineman Justin Nabozna (New Fairfield, Conn.). He led the team with eight tackles for a loss, made one sack and tallied 25 stops on the year. During his final-two games of the year, he recorded five tackles in the backfield for a loss of 20 yards.

Sophomore wide receiver Tommy Tellson (Bedford, Texas), sophomore running back Enrique Harris (Crawfordville, Fla.), sophomore offensive lineman Jeff Schuele (Troy, Mich.), senior offensive lineman Jason Barnes (Laguna Hills, Calif.), sophomore linebacker Brian Smith (Gainesville, Fla.), senior linebacker Danny Davis (Phoenix, Ariz.), senior defensive back Dorian Smith (Alexandria, Va.) and senior defensive back Marcus Walters (Richardson, Texas) comprised Navys group of Second-Team All-CSFL members.
