"Twin" applicants

I know part of the draw of a particular applicant lies in how unique he or she is. I go to a highly competitive high school and have a friend who I’ve collaborated with. We are in many of the same clubs and have won similar national and international awards. In terms of extracurricular activities and awards, I always surpass him in terms of honors or prestige of a particular office, but while he has a 4.0, I have a 3.92. I have taken a harder courseload though, and have a higher SAT.

How do you think college admissions officers will regard this? I know schools will take more than one person from each school, but we have many strong people in the class of 2009 and I am a little worried about my own chances.

Harder course load and higher SAT makes up for the .08 difference in GPA and then some.

I do have a harder course load, but do you think my 17 APs compared to his 13 would be considered significant?

personally i don’t think that 17 vs 13 is gonna be that much diff. I mean 13 ap’s is atill a very big amount, and most applicants even to top colleges don’t take that many ap’s. Maybe i am wrong.
