twins applying to Yale

My twin sister and I are legacy at Yale, and we both really love it. What would Yale think if we both applied EA. We are from Wyoming.

one of you would probably get in, maybe both

it depends on who has better stats?

There were twins in my school like two years ago. Both were the exact same rank, 5, and both applied and got into duke so its quite possible that you both get in.

There was a set of identical twins in my wife’s class at Yale (in the Dark Ages). A set of my cousins who are twins both went to Dartmouth at the same time, and there was an article a couple years ago about TRIPLETS graduating from Dartmouth. Two years ago, there was a set of South Asian twins living in Kuwait who posted a lot on CC who got twin acceptances at a number of selective colleges here (although not Yale, and they chose to go to different colleges). So it happens.

But probably not much.

Do they feel bad denying one and accepting the other or denying both?

I don’t think anyone here really knows how the admissions office deals with such an obscure admissions situation. But i can tell you that there are a number of sets of twins in my year, and some had legacy. And for my admissions cycle (class of '11), at least two sets of twins were admitted EA. Probably more. Idk whether they tend to accept one, both, or none. But if you asked the admissions office they’d probably tell you that they’ll look at them as individuals and accept any number that’s qualified.

I suspect that if your qualifications are very similar, that the school is likely to accept both or neither.

I think Hunt is correct. There is at least one set of twins in the class of '11 - in fact I think both occasionally post on CC.

I have twin cousins that both attend Harvard. I know some applications specifically ask you if you have a twin applying. I don’t think it’ll make or break anything, but I have a feeling that they give some weight to the matter. Many twins are really close to each other and, to some, its very important that they go to the same school. My older cousins say they would not have attended Harvard if the other one hadn’t gotten in.

There was a set of twins my year at Stanford.

I remembered another set of twins… which means there are at least 3 sets in '11
