<p>I’m in CSOM so my Portico instructor is also my advisor, but I just signed up for a First Year Writing Seminar which is also an advising section. Is this a problem?</p>
<p>It’s fine, you will probably be required to meet with your topic seminar professor before registering for Fall, but it might also be advisable to meet with your Portico adviser for advice on CSOM classes. You also only stick with your topic seminar adviser for Freshman year or until you declare a major. Many students with double majors have two advisers. One you will have to meet with because he or she will have a code you need to register, and another you just would want to meet with to help with course selection.</p>
