Amazing that the photographer shot video of his own shooter and will likely assist in his arrest.

Spent some time at Smith Mountain Lake years ago. You don’t often read about such tragedies happening in the Roanoke Valley. But alas, these days it happens all over the U.S.

They need to find this guy ASAP. He is very dangerous. He just tweeted pictures of the shooting on his twitter account. Made comments about both people he killed. They just took his twitter account down but he posted within the last couple of minutes so he is obviously still alive. I saw all of this right before they took his twitter account down.
I read a report that the shooter is a disgruntled former employee of the TV station so this was not a random attack.
CNN is reporting that police have caught up with him on I-66 and he has shot himself. No other details yet.
Well, not unexpected- they are reporting he shot himself when confronted. Not saying if he is dead or not.
And yesterday, a 14 year old kid in WVA held a class hostage with a pistol before being talked into surrendering.

No. I am disappointed when these madmen kill themselves. I want them to sit in a court room and hear prosecutors and witnesses say that the victims were innocent and this madman had no right to take their lives. I want “the people” to speak loudly through the justice system, telling the accused (the soon to be convicted) killer that a decent and just society rejects your evil.
I find that I don’t even have the words to comment on these horrific events anymore.
Not dead, according to WDBJ.
There have been conflicting reports about whether or not he is dead. Most recently the report on CNN is that he has a pulse but is in very critical condition.
Video from the shooter’s POV is now on YouTube. Just search for WDBJ7. It’s less violent than a TV show – but it’s real. I literally gasped, which is unusual for me.
I’m sure YouTube will take that down as soon as they realize it exists, as they should. I saw it on the shooter’s twitter account before it was taken down. It is definitely chilling.

@alwaysamom I feel the same way. But after Sandy Hook, nothing shocks me anymore. Twenty 5- and 6- year olds huddled in terror and shot en masse and we as a society do what? Nothing. The only reason this is shocking is that it happened on live TV. Shrug. Just two of the 30,000 people who die by firearms in the U.S. EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
