STATE COLLEGE – Mak McKeehan figured this would be the last place his business plan would land.

But when he and his business partner kicked around an idea for an under-21 entertainment venue, McKeehan said, they found State College to be the best place on the East Coast.

And so, after months of preparation, the Frost Night Club and Lounge is planning to open this spring at 459 E. Calder Way.

The kicker: It has no liquor license.

Good, clean fun
By Wendy McCardle - For the CDT
A State College venue has become the stomping ground for local musicians to showcase their talents to an audience of mixed ages once a month. More unique, however, is that the establishment – Sozo, 256 E. Beaver Ave. – will host an alcohol-free and smoke-free environment for a series of jazz jam sessions.

The idea came about from Penn State freshman Greg Johnson, a classical saxophone major, who wanted to continue to play gigs without the influence of cigarettes and alcohol found in most State College locales.
