Two or Three Subject Tests?

Hi all and thanks for the advice beforehand.

I’m trying to decide which (and how many) subject tests to take.

My original plan was to take the Math 2 and Literature tests this fall (my junior year) and take the US history test in May as I’m taking APUSH this year.

However, I’m now having second thoughts on taking three subject tests since many universities do not accept three, and only consider two.

I’m looking at HYPS with a desire to major in law.

Any suggestions on which to take would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you are happy with the scores from 2 tests, move on. If not, take the third test. Schools will consider the highest 2 scores.

There is no law major at these schools.

Regardless of the first two tests you are planning to take, I think that if you end up doing well in APUSH class, you should take the subject test. I found it to be great practice for the AP exam, which was only a few days after the SAT. You probably would test well if you were putting in a lot of study time for the AP exam!

Skieurope: Thanks, I realize that you cannot major in law itself. I apologize, I worded that statement very poorly.

I meant to say that I have a desire to major in something (such as economics, philosophy, government, international relations, etc), with the intent to later pursue law school.

take all 3 subject tests. It cant hurt, especially if you do well on all 3 .

If you are considering Georgetown, you need three, otherwise two are fine. With your desribed order of testing, I would wait as to any decison on history until after yu take th emath and lit tests. If you score high on those, skip the the history test unless you do want to apply tto Georgetown.
