Two-Piece Swimsuits for 'Older Women'

I am forced to retire my favorite two-piece swimsuit. It’s about to disintegrate from years of wear. The bottom is a more “substantial” traditional style - not the shorts or skirts that are popular now. It’s black, high-waisted, but cut high on the legs with a band of colorful fabric across the top - hits about navel high which is flattering on me. The top matches the banded fabric. It’s SO comfortable, but it’s getting really threadbare.

I have a very long torso, so one-pieces just won’t cut it. The boy shorts look comfy, but with my short legs would not be flattering.

If anyone knows of a similar sounding suit please let me know. I’ve just spent an hour browsing and saw nothing. Someone recommended LandsEnd but there was a giant leap from skimpy to matronly without a comfortable middle-ground.

I like some of the suits from Eddie Bauer this year.

I’m looking too! I hate buying swimsuits and jeans.

Somehow wearing a bikini ‘at my age’ doesn’t seem right, so I’m looking for something with a bit of a skirt, without looking too matronly!

Ooo–I liked the Eddie Bauer suits, moonchild–and they are on sale to boot!

I live in a place where buxom older ladies visit from the far northern places and go topless at the beach. I am in awe of their body attitude, but I am more comfortable with tankinis from Lands End and I mix and match colors…never the same for top and bottoms.

Lands end.com sells 2 piece suits that come in specialized sizes, including long torso. The pieces are mix and match and UPF 50 rated. There is currently a $20 off $75 coupon with free shipping on the website. All landsend products can be returned to any Sears store so easy for returns.

I love my swimsuits ordered from there, I wear a different size bottom from top so it works great. As the season goes on the prices drop dramatically so that is when I ordered mine.

They sell the mini skirts, shorts, 1 piece, tankinis…you name it they have it.

I love tankinis.

Look again at Lands End for tops and bottoms. They have varying styles from “more coverage” to less.

I never can get the lands end sizing right, it seems to run really huge on things that I’ve ordered.

I like the suits at Jcrew.not much support, but nice choice of colors.
What I usually do is wear a halter bikini top in a contrasting color underneath the tankini top. They also have d cups which can be hard to find.

Try Athleta and Title 9, but I think the bottoms are not as high cut as ladies our age might prefer. Some of them might work, though.

I found a Lands End tankini at Goodwill this week…woohoo. The top has a shelf support with some padding but no real cups…fine for my small chest…maybe not so good for a large chest… It also came with a separate cover-up skirt that looks nice with the top and covers the bumpy thighs. The leg openings are not very high cut. I’m almost 5’7" and the top barely meets the top of the bottoms…a long torso size would have been better but for $4 I’ll take it. It is a bright print that I plan to mix/match with a solid color tankini (Mainstream brand) that I got a great deal on at Sierra Trading Post.
