Two questions about AP exams

AP exams results can be cancelled any time? If my son is not graduating this year then the Jun 15 deadline is meaningless?

The only school that is listed on the AP Score report is the test center. If the school where he prepared for his AP exam is different than the public school he attends (the test center) where he did the class will not be on the score report?

Would it possible to share what a report looks like with the name and scores greyed out?

Yes. But I can think of no valid reason to spin wheels doing so. And I can guarantee that any “Yeah, but what about…?” opinion offered will not, IMO, be a valid reason - I’ve heard them all.

The exam results for a specific exam are reported to the test center. If multiple exams are taken at multiple test centers, only the exam taken at the specific test center are reported to that test center.

The student’s report will list all exams taken.

I am not sure what you mean by spin wheels.

I understand the bit about the test center. He did the test at his public school and studied for it at some online academy.

The test would be reported to the public school? And the public school is what would be listed on the score report. As I understand it.

There would be no mention of where he studied for it — if it were done thru an online school or self study.

If there is no corresponding AP class on your student’s transcript it wouldn’t take much for admissions to assume they self studied.

Be aware that some high schools put all standardized test scores on their official transcript as well.

Collosal waste of time and energy

Yes and yes. But I also file under "it doesn’t matter "

Why cancel?

My guess is that the OP is worried a score might not be a 5?

To answer the OP’s question, I believe exams with canceled scores show up on the score report as an exam that was taken, but with a note “score canceled at student’s request.” But this is only what I’ve read online, I have no personal experience.

So the school where he did the test will not be reported and the college is likely to assume it was a self study as the class won’t be on high school transcript.

Also there is no advantage to cancel by any date. I can just withhold it. Or I can cancel later.

Sorry where he studied for the class will not be reported.

Yes, your son can withhold or cancel his scores if he wishes to do that.

I am not sure how this works for universities which require you to report scores for all exams taken (for example Oxford).

Is there any difference in responses given OP’s prior stated desire to send his kid to some top UK schools? (Asking as I have no idea but it’s often assumed questions here only matter for US colleges).

For UK schools I believe that the scores are self reported on UCAS and then verified by an official college board score report after admission.

You are supposed to report all of them.

If I want to cancel there is no need to cancel before June 15th. I can wait see the score and cancel then if I want. Although withholding would serve the same purpose.

Yes, your son can wait to see the score, and then cancel if he wants.

(Note that they are your son’s scores, not yours. Unless you are actually the student using the parent’s account here on CC?)

Withholding a score would not be allowed at a university that requires all scores (such as UK unis). But I don’t know how this works for canceled scores.

If there were more to the story, the OP should have shared it.

But if UK unis are the goal, the better ones require all scores - including canceled scores. They tend to frown upon subterfuge.

Withholding vs canceling from a CB reporting perspective is a waste of time. Self reporting some vs all on the application is a different question that I won’t go into since it wasn’t asked.

I am just inquiring about the rules of the game. Having the option to cancel or withold makes meeting the requirements easier. And it’s good to know if there is a deadline to cancel by. There is some blurb about June 15th that is what is confusing.

What requirements are you referring to?

I just happened to remember the username. Looking at LSE, imperial etc.

June 15th means the exam is never scored/ you don’t ever know your score. After that, you still can cancel, but you know the score that’s cancelled.

But to be clear, if you’re trying to play games to meet UK entry requirements, don’t.

UK universities have set-in-stone entry requirements that can be fulfilled via AP.
