Two quick questions

when responding to one of the three prompts for the freshman essay (the autobiography, the risk, or the first experience), how should you identify which prompt you chose? should i put a number 1 at the beginning of my essay, as i did at the beginning of this question? or should i just assume they’ll be able to figure it out?

one of the teachers who is submitting a recommendation for me is acquainted with the faculty director of penn’s kelly writers house. i’m a writer, and i hope to become well acquainted with the writers house if i get in to penn. would it be proper to contact the director with some of my work, explaining that i learned of him through my teacher? would this help my app out at all, or would it just be kind of obnoxious to bother the guy?

thanks
